Switch to PASSAR: Swiss exporters must act by the end of 2025

December 2, 2025, by Transco Team

Time is running out for Swiss exporters: the complete transition from E-dec Export to the new digital system PASSAR must be completed by the end of 2025. From January 2026, exports can only be processed via PASSAR. Companies that do not make the transition in time risk having their exports stopped.

What is PASSAR?

PASSAR is the new digital goods traffic system from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG). As a central component of the DaziT digitization program, PASSAR is gradually replacing the previous e-dec and NCTS systems. The modern system is designed to simplify export processes and make customs clearance more efficient.

Current situation: Many still have to make the switch

The figures from the BAZG show that there is a clear need for action: in the middle of the year, only around 16% of exporters were using PASSAR for their exports. This means that over 80% of Swiss exporters will have to convert their systems by the end of the year. With so little time remaining, it is becoming increasingly difficult for many companies to meet the deadline.

Why early conversion is crucial

The introduction of PASSAR requires extensive adjustments:

  • IT systems must be configured and tested.
  • Internal processes must be adapted.
  • Employees must be trained.
  • Interfaces to existing merchandise management systems must be implemented.

This changeover takes time and cannot be done at short notice. Companies that fail to prepare in good time risk export delays or a complete export ban from January 2026.

Your options for action as an exporter

You basically have two options:

  1. Independent conversion: Preparing for PASSAR export yourself requires considerable time and personnel resources as well as technical expertise.
  2. Professional support: Work with an experienced customs service provider who will handle the export process for you.
Relax, we deliver.
